Aileen Campbell, Constituency MSP for Clydesdale has welcomed an initiative by NHS Lanarkshire to provide more information for carers who look after someone with dementia.
Carers have been given extra support and information, thanks to a leaflet created by dietitians from NHS Lanarkshire.
It gives advice on how to tackle the every day problems which may occur with eating and drinking.
Aileen said:
“Dementia affects people in different and complex ways, but it’s clear, in some cases, eating can be an issue. This can be difficult and distressing for the person and for those who care for them.
“The leaflet provides tips on planning meals and how to make small changes that can make mealtimes more enjoyable and less stressful.
“It also provides advice on what to do if the person’s taste changes or if they are struggling to complete meals.
“I’m sure this very practical guide will be very helpful to carers.
