Aileen Campbell, Constituency MSP for Clydesdale, has welcomed the announcement of new primary schools for the villages of Carstairs and Carstairs Junction.
Work is due to commence this summer on a replacement for the Carstairs Village School at a cost of £5.5, whilst a £5.8 rebuild will take place at the neighbouring Carstairs Junction.
Aileen commented:
“I’m pleased with this announcement. Both of these villages contain vibrant communities and these new facilities will provide a real boost.
“I particularly welcome that both schools have been designed to allow the gym and dining hall to be open to community use, along with the sports pitches.
“The Scottish Government has pledged that all of our children and young people will be educated in schools that are 'fit for purpose', which support the delivery of high quality educational experiences.
“I look forward to both of these schools emerging as inspiring learning environments that are integral parts of the communities they serve”.
