Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell is encouraging communities in Clydesdale to apply to the new £6 million Communities and Families Fund to help children in their community get the best start in life.
In her role as Minister for Children and Young People, Ms Campbell launched the new multi-million pound fund earlier this week . The fund is a joint venture between the Scottish Government and the Big Lottery Fund and is set to run over the next three years.
The grants programme will help take forward the work of the government’s Early Years Shared Vision and Priorities strategy, and will offer grassroots projects the chance to get funding of between £250 to £10,000 and will focus on improving early learning, health and wellbeing for children under eight years old by supporting them, their families and communities.
Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:
“I was delighted, in my role as Minister for Children and Young People, to launch the £6m Communities and Families Fund. This joint venture between the Scottish Government and the Big Lottery Fund will play a key role in helping communities across Scotland and here in Clydesdale to give children the best start in life.
“The funding will focus on supporting community projects which improve the quality of life of children through greater access to early learning, play and child and maternal health support. This could be projects which develop better nutrition for young children, the refurbishment of play areas or community led playgroups and crèches.
“We all want the best start for our children and as Minister for Children I am committed to ensuring we help give every young child the opportunities they deserve, and as MSP for Clydesdale I hope communities in Clydesdale will make the most of this fund to make a positive difference to their area.”
