Small Business Bonus Scheme Saves South Lanarkshire Businesses Over £21Million

Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell has welcomed figures showing small businesses across South Lanarkshire have benefitted from over £21m of rates relief since the launch of the Small Business Bonus Scheme in 2008.

The figures, revealed in a Parliamentary Answer, show that 2011/12 was a record breaking year for the SBBS in South Lanarkshire and across Scotland, as local authorities benefitted from over £130m in rates relief.
Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:
“The Scottish Government’s Small Business Bonus Scheme has made a real difference to over 80,000 businesses across Scotland in difficult financial times.
“I know from speaking to many local business owners that they operate in a fragile environment and that the SBBS has helped them maintain and grow their operations.
“The UK has re-entered recession this week and this shows just how vital the Scottish Government’s support of small businesses has and will continue to be for local economies across Scotland.”
