Aileen Campbell Listens to Carstairs Residents Concerns Over Dispensing Surgery Services

Clydesdale MSP, Aileen Campbell met with Carstairs residents to discuss the future of the dispensing surgery at the village practice during their visit to the Scottish Parliament as part of the Save Our Dispensing Surgeries lobby.

Aileen, who has made representations on behalf of the surgery to NHS Lanarkshire and the Scottish Government on the issue, met the delegation of Carstairs residents who had made the trip to Edinburgh to listen to their concerns about the future of the practice and medical facilities in the village if the dispensing service is loss.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell said:

“I was pleased to be able to meet again with my constituents from Carstairs outside the Scottish Parliament at the Save Our Dispensing Surgeries (S.O.D.S) lobby.  They have consistently and eloquently expressed their real fears about the sustainable future of the local surgery because of the impending removal of the dispensing service and I will do all I can to ensure they get the local health care they deserve.

“I was glad Dr Goudie from the surgery was able to join the S.O.D.S delegation from North Ayrshire who had arranged, through my colleague Kenny Gibson MSP, to put their views forward to the Public Health Minister, Michael Matheson.  I am in contact with the government on this issue and have corresponded with Ministers and NHS Lanarkshire.

“Responsibility lies with NHS Lanarkshire and I resolved with my constituents to request NHS Lanarkshire attend a meeting with residents to allow them to share their concerns about the future of medical provision in the village.”
