Commenting on the decision by South Lanarkshire Council’s Planning Committee to reject the application for a sand and gravel quarry at Overburns Farm, near Lamington, Aileen Campbell MSP said: “This is a very welcome decision and a huge victory for the local community who have campaigned so hard against the proposal.“My own survey of local residents generated a huge response and showed 89% of respondents dead against a quarry at Overburns. “Patersons must get the message that the quarry is neither needed nor wanted, and state that they will not appeal or resubmit an amended application.”
