|
Aileen Campbell, SNP MSP for South of Scotland, has welcomed the news that eleven projects in the Clydesdale area are to benefit from over £80,000 of support from the Big Lottery Fund. The grants include £8,000 to the Lanark Airshow Committee for the 100th anniversary celebrations and £10,000 to Lesmahagow Parent Council to support extra-curricular activities. The funding has been announced as part of the ‘Awards for All’ programme, which is a small grants scheme supported by three of the National Lottery distributors in Scotland: Scottish Arts Council, Big Lottery Fund and sportscotland. The scheme makes awards of between £500 and £10,000 to grass-roots community groups and voluntary organisations. Commenting, Aileen Campbell MSP said: “This is wonderful news and I congratulate all those involved in preparing the bids at each of the projects in Clydesdale who are benefiting from these grants. “The funding will make a big difference to lots of exciting projects across the area. The Lanark Airshow Committee have been working hard to put on a worth commemoration of the 100th anniversary, and I’m also particularly pleased to see support for projects like Tinto After School Club and Lesmahagow High School Parent Council which will benefit young people in the area. “I hope to have a chance to visit some of these beneficiaries myself in the near future, and I would encourage any other local groups who think they might benefit from funding to get in touch with the Big Lottery. I’m always happy to help provide advice and support as well.”
