Campbell Visits Law to Discuss Development Plans

Aileen Campbell, SNP MSP for South of Scotland, has met with Jim Wright, chair of Law Community Trust, to hear about the plans the group have to help regenerate the village.

The Law group has recently enjoyed success in raising over £3000 in local donations towards the cost of its £76.000 plan to renovate the play park. Aileen also went to see the new raised beds and dry stane dyke feature, which was completed at the end of last year by Clydesdale Community Initiatives, as well as Jim Wright’s history wall which is installed in the local café, Cuppa. The Development Trust has said it remains committed to helping to do their bit to help improve Law and make it an even better place to live.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell MSP said:

"I had a wonderful day in Law with Jim and enjoyed hearing all the plans he and the Community Trust have to make improvements in Law. I saw the raised beds that were completed by CCI and look forward to spring and summer when they will provide a colourful focal point in Law’s centre.

"I also enjoyed a nice cup of coffee in local café, Cuppa, where Jim Wright has been working to pull together a wonderful pictorial display of Law’s social and industrial past. It is a lovely feature and a real talking point.

"The work of the group in raising money to help create a new play park is absolutely amazing and all who were involved deserve to be congratulated. I am happy to help the group in any way I can. Jim explained to me just how important it is to the community to work towards providing something for the youngsters in Law to do. It is wonderful to see the community work together in such a positive way."

Jim Wright, Chair of Law Community Trust, added:

" I was delighted to show Aileen around Law and to let her know about the plans we have for the village. The Trust has been working hard to raise money and we are delighted to now have most of it in place to make the improvements we believe young people in the village deserve.

"I will also continue to piece together bits of Law’s past and hope that if anyone has anything they can add to the history wall in the café, they get in touch through our website at www.lawcommunitytrust.talktalk.net."
