Clydesdale Pies are Worth Their Weight in Gold, Says Campbell

Aileen Campbell, SNP MSP for the South of Scotland, has sent her congratulations to Forth butcher William McCafferty and Lanark-based Damn Delicious, following their success in the annual World Scotch Pie Championships. Aileen has also lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament to mark their success.

Mr McCafferty picked up a Gold Award in the Hot Savouries category for his Haggis and Gravy pie, and a Bronze Aware in the Steak Pies (hand held) category. Damn Delicious took Gold in the Scotch Pie category and another Gold for their Steak Bake in the Cold Savouries section. The overall World Champion Scotch Pie was won by Murdoch Brothers from Forres.

Commenting, Aileen Campbell MSP said:

"I’m delighted for both McCafferty’s and Damn Delicious in their success in this hotly-contested competition. I’ve written to them both to offer my congratulations.

"These awards are another vote of confidence in the Clyde Valley’s food industry. They recognise the extremely high standards and the amount of effort that goes into making quality produce across Clydesdale and I’m sure there will be renewed interest in both businesses as a result of this success."
