Campbell Encourages South of Scotland Residents to Contact Helpline for Advice on Fuel Bills

Aileen Campbell, SNP MSP for South of Scotland, is encouraging residents in the region to contact the Home Heat Helpline (0800 33 66 99) or www.homeheathelpline.org.uk for free advice and financial support, to make sure they are not missing out on big savings on their energy bills this winter.

The MSP visited Home Heat Helpline’s Scottish Parliamentary event to learn more about the helpline and the benefits it can deliver to people across Scotland who may qualify for assistance with their energy bills.

New research published by the Helpline revealed that over 16,000 households across South Lanarkshire are missing out on big savings on their energy bills. It is also estimated that by simply contacting the hotline, eligible families in South Lanarkshire could slash more than £250 from their energy bills every year.

Speaking at the Home Heat Helpline Scottish Parliamentary Event, Aileen Campbell MSP said:

“I encourage everyone who believes that they may be eligible for energy savings to contact the Home Heat Helpline and get advice on how they can reduce their fuel bills this winter.

“By simply making one phone call you could gain access to reduced energy tariffs and free home insulation, receive information about flexible payment options and be put on the Priority Service Register.

“There are also free grants available via the hotline, and I know that for some people this could provide a lifeline, as it gets colder during the winter months.

“There is still a huge amount of unclaimed help out there on offer from energy suppliers, so I urge people to use Home Heat’s trained advisers to gain the savings and assistance you are due.”
