| Campbell Welcomes Next Steps in £3.5million A702 Candymill Upgrade |

Aileen Campbell, SNP MSP for South of Scotland, has warmly welcomed news from the Scottish Government that the Made Stage Road Orders and Compulsory Purchase Order have been published for the safety upgrade of the A702 at Candymill, which links the M74 in South Lanarkshire with Edinburgh. The scheme will involve realigning almost one mile of road, installing new side roads and improving existing routes to enhance connections with the new trunk road. Welcoming the announcement, Aileen Campbell MSP said: “The upgrade at Candymill is long overdue, and I am pleased that the Scottish Government is taking these steps to bring the project closer to reality. “Everyone in the Clydesdale area knows what a poor state of repair the roads are in, and they can be a major headache for local commuters as well as visitors from outside the area. “This is welcome investment, and shows the Scottish Government’s commitment to improving the transport infrastructure of Clydesdale, South Lanarkshire, and the country as a whole.”
